Hello! I’m an oak seed, and I’m here to tell you about my life. I was made by my Mommy, a tall, old oak tree. She fed my siblings and me through her roots and gave us shade and branches to dangle from. We loved to sway in the breeze. Life was good.
I’ll never forget that day a terrible storm rolled in. Mommy rocked back and forth in the wind, but she stayed strong. Eventually, most of us seeds fell off—including me. The storm scattered my family far and wide. Some seeds stayed on the ground near Mommy, but I, along with a few siblings, was tossed into a big, blue, swishy place. It tasted like the root drink Mommy used to give us, but it was everywhere! After a few days of swirling and spinning, we washed back up onto dry land.
On this new land, I met very different seeds. They were gigantic, round, and had three eyes! They called themselves Coconuts. Their Mommy was tall too, but not as tall as mine, and she was much skinnier.
I rested in the sand for a long while. Some of my siblings were carried away by animals like birds and monkeys, and some of the Coconuts were picked up by children playing on the beach. I lived in a scratchy, denim pocket for a bit until I was dropped in a forest. I sank into the dirt wondering if this would be my forever home.
Then, to my surprise, a little green sprout popped out of me! It grew until I finally peeked through the ground. I got taller and taller until I became just as tall as I remember Mommy. Before I knew it, I became a Mommy too! I wonder what adventures my little acorns will go on…
