The Fire

The Fire - Ellen Lee (Francis Hopkinson, Fourth Grade)

One day Katelyn woke up to the smell of flame.  “AHHH” she screamed. Katelyn took a deep breath and thought to herself I’m going to be okay. She felt like something was coming near her. Was it the fire? Was it her mother? All things popped up into her head. She saw  more fire spreading. She was starting to feel more nervous and scared. She thought that no one  would ever come to rescue her. She felt like it was the end. Would her parents ever remember her? That’s when she heard a knocking on her big white oak door.
