White Christmas - Ryndi Hanneman (Mountain Ridge High School, 12th Grade)
The green ground turned white as a paper
Tank tops turned into hoodies, shorts turned into pants
The heat of the sun disappeared and now the clouds covering the sky turned to cold winds
Swimming pools closed while ski resorts opened
People started wearing boots instead of sandals
Lakes that were filled with boats were now covered in ice
Being outside without gloves started making hands cold as ice
People started getting hot chocolate instead of ice cream
Lights hung across houses everywhere
People bundled up in warm clothes shopping for gifts for loved ones
Looking through windows green dressed up trees could be seen
The smell of fresh pine in everyhome
Hearing laughter in homes as people celebrated with loved ones
You could tell a very white christmas was near
