Beautiful Boy - Peyton Zarr (Vallivue High School, Tenth Grade)
Beautiful boy,
whose eyes glow with a wonderful golden hue,
two-toned hair tied back,
simply because it was a weakness to cover those eyes.
Beautiful boy,
who only showed his facade,
hiding that infectious smile,
only one sole reason, he’d always hated how it looked.
Beautiful boy,
who thought he was weak,
constantly fighting to try and gain a phantom power,
neglecting his own needs to get there.
My beautiful boy,
who almost smiled when he saw me again,
yet walked away before he could,
hiding what he thought wasn’t vigorous.
My beautiful, resentful boy,
who stared at me with a false hatred,
spitting words he didn’t mean,
only realizing their weight months later.
My beautiful, resentful, wonderful boy,
who held back his tears as the weight began to crush him,
stopping me before I could leave,
begging for my forgiveness.
My beautiful, resentful, wonderful and emotional boy,
who finally smiled as I agreed,
starting from zero.
Kieran, my beautiful, resentful, wonderful and emotional boy,
who will always be my personal sun,
beautiful boy.
