5.2.23
Hi 5th/6th Grade BHA Families!
Today we covered our final lesson in Science, Moving Pictures! We had fun creating our own "moving pictures" using post-it notes. They will all be on display at Open House. Then we attentively listed to final presentations where we learned about the Golden Gate Bridge, Hollywood, Covid-19, and many other cool and interesting US events, people, and landmarks. In our last class of the day, IEW, we learned our final stylistic technique in writing, the "very short sentence" or VSS for short. It was such an exciting day!
PLEASE NOTE: Next week we'll be doing a SPECIAL PROJECT during Science, so I've moved the due date for year end Science presentations to MAY 16, however I did ask for a few student volunteers to present next week so we don't run out of time on the 16th. Thank you Natalie, Sophia, Miah G, Ethan, and Andy for volunteering to present NEXT WEEK.
Lastly, a huge thanks to all the Students and families who blessed me today with kind words, cards, and unexpected gifts for Teacher Appreciation Day. You made my day! It's been a complete honor and the very best gift for me to be able to spend each Tuesday morning with your wonderful sons and daughters! I have enjoyed getting to know each one of them and I pray they each feel their walk with the Lord has been strengthened and encouraged because of the time we spend together.
Blessings,
Mrs. AyalaHA FYI
P.S. Our end of year Class Raffle is approaching. This is when the Students "cash" in their bank book points for raffle tickets and get a chance to earn some really cool prizes. I am asking for donations of items I can raffle off. It can be anything from a $5 In-N-Out Gift Card to a board game to some cool books or anything else you know your child and their friends would enjoy. Please email me at magda.ayala.branches@gmail.com or text me at 617.901.7722 with what you will be able to donate. I need all donations by NEXT WEEK, May 9th. Your help would be so appreciated and would ensure the Students have an enjoyable and memorable end of year experience. A big thanks to those of you who have already donated such wonderful items. I am so thankful for you!!

Opened class with a devotional on Proverbs 16:32, "Better a patient person than a warrior, one with self-control than one who takes a city." We discussed different translations and the wisdom of using self-control in situations that might frustrate or upset us, and I challenged the Students to be on alert this week of possible temptations to be angry or quick-tempered. I asked them to pause, take a breather, and repeat "Christ in me," to diffuse the situation. I will pray that the Students will remember this devotion as the week progresses! Bea then lovingly opened the class in prayer.
We reviewed our final lesson, Moving Pictures, which included a video on 3D movies and a presentation from Israel on the Lego Minecraft Stop Motion picture he and Jonlucca created for the talent show.
We also worked on creating "motion pictures" with post-it notes.
I answered any last minute questions about our final Science Projects which are now due MAY 16th! *THIS IS A DATE CHANGE!*
Reviewed homework & then dismissed class for recess.
(note: all vocabulary words can be found in the glossary located on pages 388 - 390)
Complete this TWO PAGE FINAL EXAM. This is an Open Book / Open Notes EXAM, but try to answer questions without referring to the book and your notes so you can really test your knowledge! Bring to class next week for credit.
Continue working on your year-end Science Project, due IN TWO WEEKS... MAY 16TH! *This is a date change!*
