Opened class with a review of our previous Lent Devotionals. We then read this week's Lent Devotional along with James 5:13-16 as we discussed the Lord's heart of forgiveness. Our highlight verse today was, "Love... keeps no record of wrong doing," (1 Corinthians 13:4-5) We discussed the importance of confessing our sins to the Lord and to the people we've wronged, and how Lent is the perfect season to do that. I reminded the Students how the enemy likes to use our sins against us and condemn us for them, but the Holy Spirit convicts and guides us to seek repentance. We then did an exercise where each Student wrote on a small piece of paper a recent sin they've been keeping to themselves. They then ripped up the paper and threw it away after spending time in personal prayer asking for the Lord's forgiveness. Some Students even slipped the piece of paper into their shoe so they could stomp on it all day (that's what I did). Please talk to your Student about this exercise and ask them what they thought about it and what their idea of forgiveness is. Israel then kindly opened the class in prayer.
I passed back last week's table quizzes. Congratulations to Bea, Lily, and Sebastien for achieving a perfect score on their quiz. They each received a popsicle stick reward.
I then checked vocabulary from lessons 22-23, reviewed chapter end questions, discussed how many working lightbulbs everyone has in their home and shared stories of having to go short periods of time without electricity and light during power outages. We then watched a video on how refrigerators work and discussed how those of us who have a fuctioning refrigerator in our homes are richer than 75% of the world. The Students were suprised to hear that a refrigerator is a luxury! We then did an experiment with water and rubbing alcohol to demonstrate how refrigerators work.
Reviewed homework & then dismissed class for recess.

We reviewed the new structural model we learned last week: Summarizing Multiple References. As a reminder, Students will write a 1 paragraph report summarizing 2 unique source texts. They will do this by creating a KWO for each source text and then fusing the main points into 1 KWO. Today we read this week's 2 source texts on flying mythical creatures and began the KWO. The Students seem to have a solid understanding of this!
We then learned our penultimate style for this year, the #3 -ly Adverb Opener. We discussed in detail and shared some examples.

Ethan lovingly opened the closing prayer, and I finished with the many prayer requests the Students shared with me today. I'm grateful that they feel comfortable enough to share them. God bless each of them!

See you next week!
