In order to be AHA certified, meals need to meet strict nutritional requirements
Nutritional factors that must comply with these requirements include:
Calories: ≤ 500 calories
Saturated Fat: ≤ 3.5g
Trans Fat: < 0.5g trans fatty acid and no partially hydrogenated oils (PHOs) or ingredient products that contain PHOs
Sodium: ≤ 600mg
Added Sugars: ≤ 2 tsp (includes brown sugar, corn syrup, fruit juice concentrate, honey, molasses, malt syrup, maple syrup, raw sugar, turbinado sugar and agave nectar)

How can the customer identify these meals on the menu?
Meals will be tagged on the menu as ‘Heart-Check Certified’ and will live under both the Calorie Smart and Heart Smart categories
The AHA Heart-Check logo will be added to the recipe images on the menu as well as the recipe cards
Recipe cards will include the following language to communicate what it means to be AHA certified:
'Green Chef is a proud participant in the American Heart Association®’s Heart-Check Recipe Certification Program. This recipe complies with all of the AHA’s nutritional requirements for a heart-healthy meal.'
Since these meals will be part of the regular menu, please follow normal procedures when assisting customers
There will be no added surcharge for these meals. Please use normal ART compensation when needed
