Bo-Katan (Live Action)

BO-KATAN (LIVE ACTION)

 

 

GENERAL NOTES

•        This CRL is unique as it pertains to a canon character, live action Bo-Katan as seen in the Mandalorian TV series.

•        Utilizing the provided reference pictures will be the best aid in an aspiring builder wanting to make a club approvable canon kit.

•        The information below is meant to be used in conjunction with the provided reference pictures.

•        The color scheme must be followed and matched as closely as possible.

•        No “kit bashing” is allowed for canon kits.

•        Armor should have an appropriate level of weathering to match the on screen version.

•        Velcro is the preferred method of attachment of armor parts to the soft parts so that there is no visible attachment methods.

 

 

 

ARMOR

 

HELMET

•        Night Owl design as seen in the Mandalorian TV series.

•        RF does not have to be movable, but is encouraged.

•        Visor should be dark smoke black, wearers face should be hidden from view.

•        Color scheme should match reference pictures as closely as possible.

•        Sizing should be appropriate to avoid “bobble head” effect. Rule of thumb is helmet width should not exceed half the distance between the shoulders.

 

 

TORSO

•        One piece chest plate is required, designed as seen in the Mandalorian TV series. It should be sized appropriately to the wearer along with Ab plate.

•        Ab plate should be connected with elastic material or similar underneath.

•        Chest and Ab plate should be attached directly to the vest, with no visible attachment methods.

•        Gap between Ab plate and chest plate should equal the distance of the gap between the breast plate halves and chest diamond, and be uniform.

•        Bottom edge of Ab plate should be approximately no closer than 1” from top of belt, but no more than 1-1/2”.

•        Top edge of chest plate should be no more than 2” from center of collar bone, or matching reference pictures as closely as possible in location.

•        Cod plate should be attached to the flightsuit with no visible attachment method and its top edge should be covered by the belt.

•        Color scheme should match reference pictures provided.

 

 

SHOULDER

•        Shoulder plates should be sized appropriately and mounted directly to flightsuit with no visible attachment methods.

•        Color scheme should match reference pictures provided.

•        Collar bands should be shaped and sized appropriately to wearer so that they do not bite into the neck but the edges match up to the edges of the chest plate in width.

•        Collar bands should not be too long to where they hit the back plate or chest plate.

•        Gap between bands and chest plate should not exceed 1”

 

 

GAUNTLETS

•        Gauntlets should be sized appropriately and secured with a hidden hinge or similar enclosure method.

•        Color scheme should match reference pictures provided.

•        Whistling birds do not require LED tips.

•        Length of gauntlets should be approximately 3/4” the length of the forearm.

•        Hand plates should be sized appropriately and be secured to the gloves with no visible attachment methods.

•        Hand plates and gauntlets should not touch.

•        Hand plates should follow color scheme of reference pictures.

 

 

BACK

•        Backplate should be sized appropriately and shaped to the wearer.

•        Backplate can have a window for jetpack mount, or otherwise be solid as long as there is a means to attach the jetpack directly to it safely.

•        Backplate to be attached directly to the vest with no visible attachment methods.

•        Color scheme should match reference pictures provided.

 

 

LOWER BODY

•        Thigh tassets should be sized and shaped to the wearer. They should not extend past halfway the distance from the waist to the knee.

•        Tassets can be attached directly to the flightsuit with no visible attachment methods.

•        Knee armor should be shaped and sized appropriately to the wearer and be secured with black elastic or similar material that blends in with the flightsuit.

•        Shin armor should be shaped and sized appropriately to the wearer and be secured directly to the half chaps. Elastic or similar material may be used but it has to blend in with the flightsuit. Velcro behind the shin parts is preferred.

•        Color scheme should match reference pictures provided.

•        Armor parts should not touch nor overlap.

 

 

SOFT PART ITEMS

•        Flightsuit is colored a dull black and/or dark charcoal with white stitching as shown in reference pictures.

•        Flightsuit has a secondary set of short sleeves with ribbed trimming on the ends. Below the edges of the sleeves is a square pleated/ribbed panel extending down but stopping right above the elbow facing outwards.

•        Stitching patterns should match reference pictures.

•        Vest has pleated front panel behind where the chest armor sits. It also has a split collar that extends upwards towards the neck about 2” in length. The edges of the collar are ribbed with stitching white in color. On the top shoulder area of the vest is a dark brown panel, and another dark brown panel going diagonally from the front of the sleeve towards the middle of the chest that is hidden by the chest armor. It is ribbed with white stitching. The sleeves of the vest and collar are trimmed with dark brown tubing.

•        The vest should end at around the naval, and the Ab plate should not extend further than 3/4” below it.

•        Gloves are a thin leather-like material that matches the color of the flightsuit. It should appear as “one piece” and the ends tucked/hidden under the gauntlet.

•        The belt is a dark brown leather-like panel approximately 4” in width with 2 ammo pouches matching in color flanking the belt buckle on either side. Underneath the belt are attachments for the holster straps.

•        Belt buckle should match reference pictures in size, shape and color.

•        Holsters for Westars should not extend below hip tassets and rest center of them. They should match the coloring of the belt and pouches.

•        Half chaps [equestrian style] or similar should be worn under the shin plates and should match flightsuit in texture and color. They should also cover the top ½ portion of the boots.

 

 

WEAPONS

•        Westar 35's in the live action style should be used.

•        They should be painted to match the live action versions shown.

 

 

ATTACHMENT METHODS AND MATERIALS

 

•        Kits can be 3D printed, or can be made from Sintra (PVC board), PVC piping, Kydex, fiberglass, ABS, or various metals. Eva foam, Worbla and cardboard are not permitted for use as materials.

•        If kit parts are 3d printed, any and all print lines MUST BE SANDED AWAY OR OTHERWISE REMOVED. No print lines should be visible whatsoever. Printed parts will be heavily scrutinized for print lines.

•        Overall quality of kit and neatness of wear will be judged separately from actual requirements. A kit may technically meet requirements for specific parts and still not be approved if it is not worn neatly or if the overall kit itself looks sloppy or messy.

•        Plating can be secured via industrial strength velcro, snaps, bolts, rivets, screws, strapping, or magnets. All attachment methods must remain hidden/blended in.

•        Glue or tape of any kind is not an appropriate method of attaching plates to soft parts and is not permitted.
