Helmets

Can I use a Boba Fett Helmet? I have one I found at Target:

A commercially available Boba Fett helmet (such as the Target helmet or the Black Series helmet) can work, but you need to put a lot of effort into it to make it look up to par.

Can I use a Hasbro Helmet or a Rubies 1-piece helmet?

Taking care of your helmet

Most helmets are made out of a material that is heat reactive (3D printed filament, resin, etc.) Do NOT leave your helmet out in the heat (like in your car, or out in the sun, outside in the summer, or in front of a heater, etc. )

Helmets can also "relax" over time, in heat, or when not supported properly. Especially once the T-visor is cut out so it is important to keep your bucket properly supported, especially while you are working on it. Once you cut out the t-visor area, you remove some of the structural integrity for the helmet and, if not supported correctly, you can have the sides of the mandible area (area around the visor) of the helmet become misshapen. (This is very important for a resin helmet but also other materials that can bend or shape- so that’s most of them!)

You're going to want to keep it supported from top (the dome/top of the helmet) on a helmet stand or something similar. You can use a length of PVC pipe, a paper towel holder, etc., rather than setting it flat on a table with the bottom of the helmet touching the table or *gasp* on its side.

Until you install the t-visor in (the last step) you want to make sure you keep it supported from the top, not the bottom or sides. Even after that, keep it properly supported and keep it out of the heat
