Attachment Methods

How do I attach my plates to the flak vest?

Common Armor Attachment Methods:

What method is the "best" method?

There are many methods (Velcro, snaps, magnets, Chicago screws, etc) but one of our favorites is Velcro.

You will need: some industrial strength Velcro, hook side adhesive/sticky backed, and loop side sew-on. A chalk pencil (or something you are ok with using to draw onto your soft goods).

You will put the adhesive backed hook side Velcro on the back side of your armor, and the sew-on loop side of the Velcro on your soft goods. (This allows you to be able to wash your soft goods without the hook side of the Velcro grabbing and ruining things in the wash.)

How to get the perfect armor placement: Hold your armor plates up to your soft goods in the correct spacing onto soft goods (flak vest, flight suit, etc) while wearing it. Trace the plates onto your soft goods using your chalk pencil. Then mark in 1/2" from that line. That is the area to put the sew-on loop on the vest. Then cover the back of the armor plates with the adhesive backed hook velcro. The little bit of overlap allows for some fine tuning of position when you put the plates on.
