The Russian Federation is the group of allied countries of Central and Eastern Europe, East Asia, and Southeast Asia under the hegemony of Russia. These Countries include Russia, Poland, Lithuania, Czech Republic, Romania, Bulgaria, Georgia and Albania in Europe; in Asia, the Federation comprises the Mongolian People's Republic, the Republic of Vietnam and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
In June 1941, Germany broke the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact by invading the Soviet Union. From the time of this invasion to 1944, the areas annexed by the Soviet Union were part of Germany's Ostland (except for the Moldavian SSR). Thereafter, the Soviet Union began to push German forces westward through a series of battles on the Eastern Front. As they liberated nations, the Soviet Union installed governments loyal to the USSR, making them puppet states. These nations would form the base of the USSR’s Eastern Bloc.
However, after the death of Joseph Stalin, reforms swept across the then USSR. The rule of Communism was relaxed and governments were aloud to have free elections. Russia officially ended the Soviet Union in 1985 and formed the Russian Federation to facilitate trade and commerce through former Soviet States.

In the Russian Federation, every supernatural being is by default a member of the Guardians, and avoiding conscription is only possible by finding some way to leave the Federation
