During Operation Svalbard, a ritual was conducted unshielded next to another unshielded ritual. This seems to have had unforeseen consequences, especially as one of the rituals opened a portal to Hades to pull forth some power, and the ritualist failed to close the portal at the end of the ritual.
Something seems to have used this access point to access the Hellenic underworld. The full details of what the Blight is remain unknown. The Guild is aware it manifests as orange light and orange flowers, with the greatest manifestations appearing to be orange flowery creatures likened to pumpkins.
These larger manifestations also seem to be able to release white spore-like objects, which target Risen specifically. When coming into contact with a Risen, they, for a brief time, remember everything of their living life, but nothing from after their death. This seems to be a very temporary and often harrowing experience.
The effects on the Underworld are believed to be that they can capture souls that are supposed to make their way through, preventing them from truly passing on. It seems to have also spread through, attacking even established spirits in the Hellenic underworld. A warning was passed on in the Guild Valentine's Party of 2020 from Euridyce, passed on via Eros (see the IC report for more information).
During Operation New Mexico, Hermes approached the Guild in regards to this issue to taken them to deal with an infestation of Blight flowers around one of the portals that is supposed to let souls pass through. The Guild Agents successfully dealt with this issue, though it is unclear yet if the Blight remains and if so in what strength.
