Concentration is required for some skills and one round lasts 30 seconds. You can continue concentrating on one action for more rounds if applicable. Players must actively roleplay the task they are trying to perform. Concentration is broken by the following;
● Taking damage and effects, dealing damage and effects.
● Becoming Unconscious or moving another player.
● Starting a second, different action that requires Concentration.
This reduces damage by the specified amount down to a minimum of 1. If you reduced the damage of a blow you must call “Damage Reduction”.
If you are immune to a damage or effect, you must call “No effect” when affected by that call.
Some characters possess the ability to shield themselves against all damage of a single type. They may only be used as many times the character has shields of that type. When struck, they can call “Shield from [type]” to ignore all damage and effects from that strike. Shields refresh every half hour and work on both abilities and weapon effects.
Some characters possess the ability to move so fast as to avoid damage. When struck by a melee or ranged attack or a single target spell/effect, they can call “Dodge” to ignore all damage and effects from that strike. You cannot dodge mass calls. You may only dodge the number of times determined by your skill level.
Some characters will have the ability to compel monsters (not players) to fight them and only them. Once a Duel is initiated, the only way to end it is by allowing it to come to its natural conclusion when one party falls unconscious, or by attacking the monster who the call was used on. This will break the compelled duel and the monster will continue to act as normal.
A character may search an enemy who cannot resist by using Concentration. The player being searched must then reveal if they are carrying an IC items and must hand them over at the searching characters request. Note, normal Searching will not reveal any items that the target has used their Conceal skill to hide, unless the searcher has the Locate skill. In this case, it is the responsibility of the player with the Locate skill to make their target aware that they are searching using Locate.
Some characters and monsters have the ability to innately cause effects for damage. These are considered to happen automatically and therefore cannot be interrupted. The calls will always include the vocal ‘Innate’ followed by the damage or effect; for example, ‘INNATE Single Head’ or ‘INNATE Fear’. This is an OOC call.
Some characters and monsters (for example trolls) may be able to Resist certain things. This is not a full immunity but a limited resistance. They must call "Resist X" to indicate this. This is an OOC call. Any part of the call that is not Resisted will apply - for example if Flame Triple Strikedown Head is called and the Target responds "Resist Strikedown", they will still take the Flame Triple to the Head location.
