The Vatican
Since World War 2, religion has made somewhat of a resurgence in the world. Although scientists and scholars attribute the other races to a result of evolution, there are a great many who see them as proof of the supernatural. They therefore turn to the divine in hopes of granting some protection from the monsters now walking amongst them.
This resurgence began during the war, shortly after the Nazi's reveal of their secret weapons, Vampires, Werewolves and Risen soldiers that began turning the tide on both fronts. The Allies had no understanding on what the creatures were and many early encounters were attributed to soldiers suffering some form of battle psychosis or PTSD. But as the reality of the situation dawned, Allied high command struggled to formulate an effective battle tactic against the creatures. That is until the Vatican became involved.
The Catholic Church not only knew about the other races, but they knew how to combat them. Over its hundreds of years of history, the Vatican had been studying and hunting the other races in order to protect humanity against such foul creatures. They had kept the knowledge of such things from the rest of humanity in order to not cause the panic that was now sweeping across the world. Vatican Hunters and Swiss Guard spread across the world, fighting and preaching where they were needed most. Soon, the Allies receive supernatural allies of their own as the other races realised that not acting would paint them as monsters for the rest of time. The Vatican agreed that victory would not be possible without the reinforcements and the war was eventually won.
Many witnesses attested to the impossible feats Vatican Hunters and Swiss Guard performed on the battlefield and attributed them to divine intervention. Sceptics argued that the feats performed by the Vatican was a result of the use of magic, but no Vatican soldier interviewed after the war showed any hint of being magically gifted. The experts were baffled and people flocked to their new found faith. Because of its actions in WW2, Vatican City holds a great deal of respect around the world and holds its own seat on the Grand Alliance.
