Program Options, Funded Enrollment, and list of center locations and service areas
Funded to serve 697 children and pregnant mothers, GHC addresses a significant service gap for early childhood education of eligible children in Ashburn, Brighton Park, Chicago Lawn, Morgan Park, North Lawndale, and West Englewood. GHC offers a variety of options to address all child and parent needs. Summarized in the chart below, we represent the children we provide our services to as follows: 145 children (ages 0-2) are served through full-day, center-based, early childhood education at GHC's directly operated sites in Chicago Lawn (Kove Learning Academy), North Lawndale (Sinai Community Ogden), Brighton Park, and GHC's partner sites in West Englewood (both Diana's Playpen of Little Geniuses, and Literacy Zone), Ashburn (both M&E Daycare – 79th Street Day Care, and Kiddie College), and Morgan Park (Peachtree Educational Daycare). We are in service to 267 children (ages 3-5) for full-day, center-based, early childhood education at GHC's directly operated sites in Chicago Lawn (Kove Learning Academy), North Lawndale (Sinai Community Ogden), Brighton Park, and GHC's partner sites in West Englewood (Diana's Playpen of Little Geniuses), Gage Park (Literacy Zone), Ashburn (both M&E Daycare – 79th Street Day Care, and Kiddie College). GHC serves 168 children and pregnant mothers through EHS and PI Home Visiting programs at our directly operated sites in Brighton Park (Archer 1) and 127 children through HS Home Visiting programs in Brighton Park (Archer 2).
By offering center-based, home visiting, EHS/HS/PI, and partner network options, GHC meets the needs of the diverse community populations we service. Many families experience long work schedules and need our comprehensive childcare services. GHC has a team ready to assist families in food and health service deserts around Chicago. Access to educational, mental health, medical, and nutritional resources is scarce for the families we serve; without GHC assistance, some families would experience a deficiency. As an agency, we are committed to the community needs of children and families, and combating factors that negatively impact family stability and healthy child development.
GHC’s Home Visiting program provides support to families whose life circumstances might prevent them from participating in a more structured setting, such as a preschool. Families who suffer with severe stressors, community violence, maternal depression, or substance abuse often choose the Home Visiting option. Working in the community where families are most comfortable allows for intimate and trusting relationships—a critical element in any program design, to support children and their families.
