CSD -Hiring Packet
All managers that identify candidates for hire are required to follow the Hiring Packet Policy.
When Hiring Packets are created, managers are required to follow all protocols from the Hiring Packet Procedure.
Hiring Packets must have the first approval from the Director of Early Childhood Programs

Three completed References from the following: Two colleagues and one supervisor
Submitting a Candidate for Review
1. Select a candidate that has the appropriate credentials for the position listed. Some candidates are near obtaining credentials, please check with the Associate Director of Early Childhood Programs with the following documents: (a) Resume (b) Illinois Gateways PDR (c) Transcripts (If available).
2. If a candidate is selected that it is in process of gaining credentials, the candidate must be approved by the Director of Programs. Upon approval, the candidate must sign and agree to a contingency letter.
3. Conduct a phone interview. Please answer all questions, this gives others the opportunity to learn the candidate. It is required to include a phone interview in written or typed format. If the phone interview is submitted in a written format, please print.
4. Schedule a first interview. If the candidate is a good fit, conduct the final interview the same day. This method elevates time and the loss of a candidate by waiting to schedule a final interview. If you are not sure about a candidate and would like to consult the team, conduct the first interview, and obtain a date for a final interview.
5. At the final interview, always allow the candidate to complete an Authorization of Reference form. If the candidate is selected, GHC would need to check the candidates’ references. Candidates must include at least one supervisor on the authorization of reference form.
6. A signed Authorization of Reference form allows GHC to complete a reference check on new candidates. Three reference questions forms must be submitted for the candidate. Place the name of the reference, the date of the reference check and the relation to the candidate. Make calls to each reference and follow the questions listed on the form. There are questions that are to be answered only by a supervisor of the candidate. (A packet can be submitted without reference check forms; this system was created to allow packets to be processed due to the reference checks being delayed by none answering references.) All reference checks MUST be sent to HR Immediately when they are complete.
7. Complete a Status Change Form with the candidate’s name and position. The salary can be completed by HR. Indicate the funding program and credential of the candidate on the Status Change Form.
8. Make certain that the packet includes the following: (a)Phone Interview (b)First Interview (c)Final interview (d)Resume (e)Illinois Gateways PDR (f)Transcripts (if available)
9. Complete the Hiring Packet Checklist, assure that all information is present and in the hiring packet
10. Submit the packet in its entirety to the Associate Director of Early Childhood Programs.
