In mainstream Year 10 Mathematics, students must choose one of three pathways (Methods, General or Foundation) depending on which type of mathematics they want to pursue in VCE. For more information on Maths Pathways, click here.
Year 10 Mathematics builds upon the content learnt in Year 9 Mathematics and prepares students for the expectations of Unit 1&2 Mathematical Methods. Students will complete tasks with and without a CAS calculator.
The topics studied include Surds, Quadratic Expressions, Indices and Logarithms, Quadratic Equations, Algebra and Equations, Non-linear Graphs, Probability, Measurement, Applications of Pythagoras, and Trigonometry including the Unit Circle, Linear Graphs and Simultaneous equations, and Financial Mathematics.
