If your NikkahNama is in English, you MUST get it attested, both original and photocopy, by Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) and write an explanation letter stating why Urdu Nikkahnama is not available. Usually, Canadian spouses prefer English Nikkahnama because of easy understanding of clauses.
(iii) To get marital FRC, both spouses MUST apply for modification of your CNIC/NICOP and have their marital status changed.
(iv) You can get your documents certified/attested by either Notary Public or Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Both are acceptable.
(v) Union Council's stamp/sign/number in Nikahnama must be clearly visible in Photocopy.
(vi) If you don't want to send original translations and affidavit, you must get their photocopies certified.
(vii) MOFA usually attest Nikkahnama, its translation and MRC on originals as well as its photocopies, however, they don't attest NADRA-issued documents.
(viii) Affidavit is not required if you attest your Nikkahnama and Translations from MOFA.
(ix) MOFA attestation is not mandatory. Notary Public attestations are equally acceptable.
