Overview

These are two documents and must be treated separately.

CBRC

Child Birth Registration Certificate

  • PROOF OF BIRTH : Must only be issued to Pakistani born.
  • It's just a document to register child's birth issued by Provincial Govt or Territory.
  • Issued by Union Council or local Nazim.
  • You just also apply for CRC at NADRA after getting CBRC from Union Council.
  • You will be needing CRC to get NADRA issued CNIC's or Pakistani Passport of child.
  • Every child must have their own CBRC's.
  • FEES : Rs.50 to Rs.300 (depending upon age)

CRC

Child Registration Certificate

  • PROOF OF NATIONALITY : Can be issued to Pakistani born or foreign born.
  • Also known as B-Form (بے فارم), it's a registration document issued by Govt. of Pakistan.
  • Issued by NADRA.
  • Child is issued unique CRC number which, in future, will become CNIC number & will remain same throughout their life.
  • You need CBRC to apply for CRC, unless you apply for child's CRC up until age of 10 (then CBRC is not required).
  • Register as many children in one go, provided both parents are present for Biometric verification.
  • FEES : Rs. 50 to Rs. 500 (category basis - Normal vs Executive)

Procedure

  • The first step is to obtain the document of your child's birth from the corresponding hospital or clinic.
  • You will need attested Photocopies of your child's parents' CNIC's by Governments officers.
  • Then, go to Union Council office with jurisdiction over the child's address, register the child's birth, and request for Birth Certificate.
  • The officer will check the documents and inform you if anything else is required.
  • Once your application is submitted you will receive your birth certificate within 4-5 days.

For Nadra-issued Child Registration Certificate (CRC), you can go to nearest NADRA kiosk. At least ONE PARENT with their original CNIC must be present for their biometric verification. In case any of your blood relative (father/mother/brother/sister/son/daughter) is available at the time of application at the NRC, their biometrics can be captured and as a result attestation of the form is not required.

Required Documents

  • Copy of birth certificate issued by the Hospital (attested)
  • Copy of Mother's CNIC (attested)
  • Copy of Father's CNIC (attested)
  • In-case you are applying for birth certificate for yourself, you will need your own CNIC copy (attested)

Fees

As per NADRA no fee is charged for birth certificate if it is obtained within 60 days of the birth and in-case of computerized ones 100 rupees are charged.

Validity

The birth certificate issued by NADRA is valid for lifetime.

Processing Time

If all the documents and information is clear then you can get the birth certificate in 4-5 working days.

Instructions

  • You can apply for Birth Certificate at the time of the birth of your child, or later on for yourself too when you need it.
  • Birth certificate issues by NADRA are fully computerized and are available in both Urdu and English languages.
  • Once you apply for birth certificate the record against the applicant is checked in the Municipality office based on the name, and date of birth of the applicant and the place where he was born.
  • If record is present, certificate is issued as per the details already present else you will have to register with late fee and provide supporting documents to complete the procedure.
