We had our interview yesterday and alhumdullilah we passed
now here are a few observations I want to bring. First of all, this group that we are on is an incredibly incredibly small size of people and I would say consists of more educated applicants. Yesterday I met 6 other people that had arrived to be interviewed and every single one of them was very different, had a completely different type of interview and length of time that they were with the visa officer. None of them were on this group I think.
Few other things to consider for the interview:
Questions we were asked:
Please explain the age difference between your spouse and you (yeah we are one year apart :\ ). How are you compatible with each other My sister in law (SIL) was asked to explain why her husband (my brother) had not returned in the 18 months after commencement of thier marriage. They were both asked the same question. we had already anticipated this question and we had brought all proper proof with us. The visa officer also kept on saying the dates wrong, so you had to correct her right away e.g. . My husband was interviewed for 30 mins and my sister in law for 15 mins
Some other questions my SIL was asked: When was your wedding date arranged? When did your exact wedding happened? Did all your function happen in one day? <-- trying to trick you with this question Why did your sister in law had a bigger wedding and more events as evident by photos? What does your spouse do for a living? When did he move to Canada? When did your spouse’s family moved to Canada? Did he move alone? After your marriage, why did your spouse leave so early? When he came to visit last time, where did you stay? who is in his family and where do they reside? Where are you residing currently with your spouse? What language does your communication happen in? Is your spouse outside with you?
We created a timeline bound album for our cases. She pointed out to certain photos and asked who some of the people were as well as some places they visited, thier names and as such. The visa officer was satisfied.
Now on to other people:
Mr. DNA gentelman (no spouse with him) This guys had the most sobering story. He had been married for 3 years and he also has a daughter. The CIC concluded the child was not his and he is not married hence this is a scam to get him to canada. he had a DNA test a few months back and it was positive that his child was indeed his. He was nervous about the interview but received that it could be end process for him. We later met him at the shuttle enclave on our way back and he informed us that the reason why CIC put him through so much was that some one had sent a letter stating he had little interaction and communication with his wife hence they should reconsider his application. even though he had ordered notes, ALLEGATIONS or fraud notes don’t appear in them. They grilled him really hard. he was in the interview for almost 2 hours. Lesson learned: there are jealous relatives. don’t infuriate them
Lady who had nikkah in September (no spouse with her) She was in interview for 15 mins. Visa officer satisfied. The questions were asked were, thier rukhsati plans, all details of her husband’s job, work and his family. her case was done in 3 months. They even asked her leave the passport. oh and she was dressed to a western level of formal dress
The guy who got waterboarded (no accompanying spouse) he came out looking like he had been waterboarded. he was in interview for 1.5 hours. Questions he was asked:
what kind of chocolate does your wife prefer. what colors does she like whats her address whats her telephone number who are the people who are around her neighbourhood how many bedrooms are there describe her bedroom. the colour of her bedsheets the number of beds int he house how often he calls her (and they cross checked his time and frequency with call records) what type of car does she drive what is the model and make of her car when did the had her last servicing done on the car how big is her car, is a 5 seater or 7 seater.
…i think you guys get the gist
Visa officer satisfied and passport given back without stamp.
A lady and her husband . Total time 1.5 hours as well. Her husband was not asked to come in. Same at the guy who got asked every question. She said they asked very personal questions as well. She did not wanted to stay for long as she was very tired I guess. Visa officer satisfied and passport given back without stamp.
Book Couple: Had thier nikkah for 2 years in which wife had come to Pakistan and they still had not seen each other. They were cousins as well. Not many photos of thier marriage or any honeymoon trips after rukhsathi. however they had tons of communication record. Wife had moved from Canada and was coinhibiting with her husband for last 4 months. Time and length of their interview: 20 mins. 10 for wife, 10 for husband. Cross examined them by asking what books does his wife like and all the titles. Visa officer satisfied and passport taken to be stamped
The Slipper wali aunty married for 4 years and husband has only visited twice she had no idea what any of her paper work was about. 10- 15 photos for proof that she brought. She looked like she had done the house work and walked in with her slippers. She was in the interview for 2 hours. Visa officer satisfied.
so we learned a lot from our day and there is nothing to be concluded from this note other than the fact that your case is different than anyone else, they can ask you ANY TYPE OF QUESTION within context of your CASE. Visa officers also determine thier own method of interrogation. If you notice from above, some are more lenient, others ten to grill the spouse.
Good luck to all of you who have an interview :)
