Dear Brethren, Greetings to you from Church of Christ the King, Libya.
Today's focus is on David's victory that recovered every thing that he lost.
We all know that David had been fleeing from Saul. And on one special occasion, he and his followers took political asylum with Achish , the King of Philistine province. The king offered him a village called Ziglag. David and his men kept their wives and children as well as the cattle. David and his men were involved in King Achish's war with the other provinces. And King Achish was so glad with David's presence especially with his war victories.
Later, when King Achish was waging war against Israel. David and his men were asked to leave because they were Hebrews. David and his men reached Ziglag after three days journey. They found that the village was totally burnt to the ground and all their wives and children were taken captives by Amalekites. There was wailing and lamenting for the loss and even his own people were about to stone him. (Even in our lives whenever we face troubles people may come like the friends of Job. And instead of comfort, they pass judgement on us). But even in such a tough and distressed situation, David strengthened himself in Lord his God. (I Samuel 30:6).
David's trust was in the Lord. He inquired of the Lord who promised him a great victory and the recovery of all what was lost. He went out with just four hundred men. The Lord gave him a tremendous victory and David recovered all. He came back with the marvelous victory and shared the plunder among themselves ( 1 Samuel 30: 26-30). All their women and children were saved. This was really a great wonder at that time.
Yes! the Lord can work wonders in our lives even when things seems more dull and impossible. In this time of crisis, most of us know how far and how much we have lost. Counting of losses will simply increase sorrowful memories of despair and the disappointments. But just like David, we can find comfort and courage in our Lord Jesus. (2 Corinthians 1:14)
Moreover the victory is just round the corner with a bountiful blessing.
2 Corinthians 4:17
17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.

Loving heavenly Father, thank you very much for the scriptures which encourages and comforts us. Many a time the temporal afflictions put us into dark domain. But we thank you for Jesus who brings us victory even when things go so bad and miserable. May your great Name be glorified. In Jesus' name we pray.Amen.
