Praise the Lord, Greetings to all of you. Let’s thank God for the new month of May. He has been gracious towards us all these four months despite the pandemic situation all around the globe. May the Lord help us with saving hands from this epidemic and recover the world from such great plague.

During these days, we are meditating upon the post Easter events recorded in the Bible and how he showed himself as the Risen in various occasion especially to His followers.

I have heard some people telling that they had seen their dear dead relatives in dreams or in certain plays like Hamlet the ghosts of the dead looking for revenge and so on. There are many cults which suggest the worship of the dead ancestors. Seers are the special sect in Senegal who worship the spirits of the ancestors.

However, in no play or film or in real life, we ever see anyone who passed away having dinner with the living. But here we understand that the risen Lord is dining with the disciples mainly to ensure that he rose from dead.

In the beginning of the year in 2000, there was a Peace keeping Mission in Asmara. Once during the Good Friday, a soldier got a special permission from the Colonel to attend the service with us. On Easter Sunday, he went to the same person for another permission to attend the Easter Service as well. The colonel was reluctant this time and asked why again? Jesus rose from dead was the answer and he could not understand what he said because for the first time he heard of Jesus’ name. On Friday, he thought that the soldier wanted to worship a dead saint. But the message of resurrection was so strange to him , but he granted him permission on Easter as well.

In John 21, we read that the doors were closed and the fear and hopeless future bothered them to the most. But the presence of the living Savior brought them light, life and the future hope. Shall we ask our Risen Lord to be in fellowship with us? May the Lord richly bless us.

Loving Savior, We thank you for rising from the tomb for us so that we all could have the eternal life. May the effect of resurrection empower us to stand firm for you in this world. We pray for the corana affected, Lord, help them recover from the disease. We give you all glory and honor. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
