'Do not be Anxious!'

⁶ Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

¹⁹ And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Dear Brethren

Greetings to you in the comforthing name of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

We know from history that cities have gained their names based on their famous kings. Cities like Alexandria, Caeserea, Philipy and so on. Philipy gained its name owing to the great King Philip. King Philip was the father of Alexander the Great.

On one of his missionary journey, Paul went to Philipy. Many souls were won for Christ. Paul was imprisoned by the authorities. However, he was encouraging the believers to be happy and cheerful in their sufferings. Although, he was chained, Paul was happy that the Lord's Word could not be chained. Therefore, he was asking the people to rejoice in their sufferings.

However, certain things bothered Paul. The people were so concerned about keeping the law for their own righteousness. Paul remembering his early life, reminded them that keeping the law cannot gain salvation. Self righteousness is not the route to salvation. And earthly heritage is of no value before the Lord.

Power of Resurrection

Paul believed in the power of Lord's resurrection. He knew that the power of resurrection would sustain him all throughout his earthly mission.

The whole book of Philippians is also called the book of joy. Every word gives hope, joy and encouragement. The risen power of the Lord is an everlasting hope The thought of which nullifies all temporal sufferings.

Mr. Jawaharlal Nehru was also called 'the Light of Asia'. He was India's Patriarch during the freedom struggle. He spent hard times in the prison. He wrote many letters to his beloved daughter Priyadarshini. These letters gave Ms Priyadarshini hope and courage. Later, Mr. Jawarharlal Nehru became the first Prime Minister of Free India. Ms. Indira Priyadarshini served India as the her father. She mentions that her fathers letters were the inspirational force in her life.

Apostle Paul's 'Letters to Philippians' was encouragement and motivation to the church. He strengthened them not to worry for anything. Philippians 4: 6 -7. In verse 7, he speaks of the peace that transcends all understanding. And this PEACE is possible only with JESUS.

John 14:27.

My peace I leave with you. My peace I give unto you ; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Prayer

Loving heavenly Father, we thank you for your grace and mercy that has sustained and given us life all throughout these days. Lord, we thank you, that any power and the value that the world offers is simply nothing and cannot provide an eternal joy or peace. We thank you for Jesus Christ, who is our joy and peace. Help us to follow him in his steps all the time. In Jesus' holy name, we pray. Amen.

May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight. O' Lord!
