Taking ELRC 7501 as my first class back to school was both exciting and challenging. Balancing this course while serving as my district's ELA grade-level lead and my campus grade-level team lead tested my time management and communication skills, but I'm proud of how much I've grown and learned in such a short time.
Before taking this course, I viewed educational technology as another thing we, as teachers, had to implement, but without a clear understanding. It was another tool in the toolbox that either worked or didn't work. Now, I understand that it's so much more. It's about whether a tool supports learning goals, how it's being used, and how students and teachers feel about it. A good evaluation means asking the right questions, listening to feedback, and being open to change.
One of my favorite parts of this course was the feedback! Giving and receiving feedback helped me think more clearly about my work and reminded me of the power of constructive feedback in assisting others within a group. I also appreciated the frameworks we studied, such as the logic model. (I feel like I've always used the logic model mentally but never knew what it was called). In the future, I plan to apply what I've learned by being more intentional in bringing technology into my work. I want to ensure it aligns with my team's goals and genuinely benefits my students. This course has made me more reflective, not just about the tools we use but also about how we lead and learn together. I feel more confident now, both as an educator and a leader, and I'm excited to continue building on what I've learned from this course.
