Reflection on My OER and Open Pedagogy Presentation
Completing this assignment was definitely an unexpected experience. I woke up with no voice, which made recording a ten minute presentation nearly impossible. Because of that, I had to improvise and explore tools in Canva that I had never used before. I experimented with the AI voice feature for narration and tried out Canva’s updated video editor to piece everything together. What would have normally taken me a single work session ended up taking twice as long, but it pushed me to learn new features that I can use in future projects.
Even with the challenge, the assignment helped me see the real value of OER. I understand more clearly how open resources remove barriers for students, allow teachers to adapt materials, and make learning more accessible. The idea of open pedagogy also stood out to me because it encourages students to create and share knowledge in meaningful ways. Working through this project reminded me that openness benefits everyone and that there is a lot of potential in integrating OER into my own teaching.
Overall, losing my voice turned into an unexpected learning opportunity. I walked away with a deeper understanding of OER and new technical skills that will help me create better content moving forward.
