Module 2: Evaluator Program Description (EPD)
For Module 2, I selected Choice 1: Video Presentation – Evaluator Program Description to demonstrate my ability to apply needs assessments and root-cause analysis in the context of educational technology evaluation. In my video, I focused on how the Writable platform can support middle school students, particularly those in 6th grade who are performing below grade level in writing, by providing targeted, feedback-rich writing support aligned to state standards.
I began by identifying a clear problem statement based on district-level writing performance data. I used this data to define evaluation questions, establish measurable outcomes, and describe how Writable could be implemented to meet those needs.
The feedback I received was encouraging and helped me reflect more deeply on the strengths and next steps for improving my evaluation approach:
Trinity appreciated how I tied district-level data to the program's goals and highlighted my realistic solutions, particularly in areas such as equity in digital access and support for multilingual learners.
Monique complimented the visual quality of my presentation and noted that including specific school demographics made my evaluation more meaningful. As a fellow interventionist, she connected with the core issue. She also offered a helpful note about projecting my voice more clearly in future presentations.
This module helped me sharpen my evaluator mindset and pushed me to think about how evaluation is not just about outcome, it's about aligning tools to real student needs and being honest about challenges. The experience reinforced my belief that effective educational technology must be data-driven, student-centered, and practical for teachers to implement.
