Leopard causes a pattern of rosette spotting similar to that of the large cats its named for. These spots are always darker than the base pelt, and can range from a small area of the pelt, or cover it entirely in a dominant carrier. Generally the rosettes become more spot-like toward the underside of the algolope, and as they travel up the neck and onto the face.
Rosette can show as just the outside rings, or be dual colored with the ring color and a color inside that ring, either darker or lighter than the ring. At least 5 spots must be visible on a design and spots shouldn't be larger than the eye.
(nLp) Single allele
In single allele leopard, the markings rarely extend past the withers, hindquarters, and tail end. They can have spots on the cheeks and forehead, and sometimes on the tail tuft, or on just the shoulder or rump.
(LpLp) Dominant
In dominant leopard, spotting is generally present throughout the animal's body. They also can exhibit white markings without unders or pangare if "+" is present, which can cover the light gray range show below. The rosettes can also blend or fade into the body toward the underside of the animal, and on the legs. The white can have solid or faded edges. Rosettes over white should remain dark colored based on the base coat.
White marks do not have to cover the entire range and can optionally be added to just one area or not shown at all on Dominant Leopard.
White Markings (Overo, Tobiano, Sabino, etc) go on top of white marks under rosettes.
Ears turn dark colored, with a white eyespot at the base of the ear.
LpLp+ - White Marks possible, not required to be shown.
Edge:
Edges of Leopard can be Hard or Blurred.
Variation:
Leopard can have it's own nuance and slight fade out into the basecoat.
Leopard can be above or below other markings but must be below all white markings and reversed white marks.
Leopard can have a lighter or darker color under the Rosettes or just the Rosette border.
Leopard can have slight fur texture on furred areas.
Leopard can use colors from the Natural Accents Slider as long as the color is natural to the coat and 'darker' than the base color.
White marks show on LpLp+ only, but it can be left out of the design and instead 'hidden'. nLp+ is simply a carrier and white will not show at all.
Leopard is not affected by Reversal "-" Gene.
Leopard can mix with Cheetah to have both round spotting and rosettes, but 5 rosettes must be present somewhere in the design range.
