What is tactile type?

Making letters, words, and phrases out of physical objects.

Often the typography is photographed for 2D use.

Using objects/materials that relate to the words can help you visually communicate your message even quicker.

Review Examples With LEAVES

Today, your material to create is leaves.

  1. Look at the examples of the letters made out of leaves in the 5 Google Slides to the right.

Leaves Typography Examples

Gather Supplies

  • 5-10 leaves (depending on your word and letter size)

  • Scissors

  • 1 piece of plain paper

Choose a Word

Choose at least one word (with at least 4 letters) that connects to the general theme of leaves/nature.

  • wilderness

  • nature

  • outdoors

  • explore

  • earth


  • outside

  • leaves

  • trees

  • grow

Cut out letters & Arrange

  1. Use scissors to cut out letters from the leaves to make your chosen word.

  2. Once you've cut all the letters out, arrange on your page.

Take a Photo

Either:

  • Take a photo of your word on your paper and email it to yourself

  • Or ask Mrs. Hodges to take a photo and download it from the Google Drive folder.

Turn in on Canvas

  1. Turn in your .jpg image on Canvas to the "Leaves - Tactile Type" assignment.
