These will be shown in class, but are here also for your reference.

Hierarchy

Copy Illustrator Template

  1. Go to the Hierarchy Template

  2. If you aren't already signed in to Adobe, click "Sign in" in the top right corner.

  3. Click "Copy to Files"

  4. Open the Creative Cloud desktop app.

  5. Rename: Right-click on the file and click "Rename" to add your last name to the start:

    • "Last Name, Hierarchy"

  6. Open: Right-click and click "Open"

  7. Workspace: Adjust your workspace (go to "Window" > "Workspace" > "Essentials Classic")

1-3: Create Hierarchy by Size

  1. Mrs. Hodges will show how to do #1 up on the board

  2. For compositions #1 and #2 click and drag over the correct text boxes to create the prescribed hierarchy by size.

  3. For composition #3, adjust the text size according to the guidelines to create the prescribed hierarchy by size.

4-6: Create Hierarchy by Color

  1. Mrs. Hodges will show how to do #4 up on the board

  2. For compositions #4 and #5 click and drag over the correct text boxes to create the prescribed hierarchy by color.

  3. For composition #6, adjust the text color according to the guidelines to create the prescribed hierarchy by color.

7-9: Create Hierarchy (w/ Images)

  1. Mrs. Hodges will show how to do #7 (part 1) up on the board

  2. For compositions #7-9 (3 parts each), drag over the objects and adjust the size and/or color to create the prescribed hierarchy.

Save as .AIC and .PDF

  1. Go to "File" > "Save" to make sure to save your .aic file (if it is grayed out then it is already saved).

  2. Go to "File" > "Save As..."

  3. Choose "On your computer"

  4. Click "Creative Cloud Files" folder on the left menu

  5. Name: "Last Name, Hierarchy"

  6. Click "Save"

  7. Click "Save PDF"

  8. Once you save as a .pdf, exit out of Illustrator. If you need to edit again and resave, make sure to edit your .aic file and re-save as a .pdf.

Turn in to Canvas

Turn in your .pdf file on Canvas in the "Hierarchy Practice" assignment.
