Handwriting Font (Instructions)

Write Your ABCs

  1. On the printed template, write each upper case letter of the alphabet in each individual box.

  2. Write your name in the top right corner of the paper.

  3. Take a photo of your template page (or ask Mrs. Hodges to)

  4. Email the photo to yourself or download Mrs. Hodges' photo of it from the Google Drive folder

Create a Calligraphr Account

  1. Go to: https://www.calligraphr.com/en/accounts/register/

  2. Enter your school email and your normal school password (so you remember it)

  3. Check the box next to "I agree..."

  4. Click "SUBMIT"

  5. Go to your email and confirm your account by clicking on the link in the email from Calligraphr

  6. Go to: calligraphr.com/en/accounts/login/ and login

  7. Click "MY FONTS" in the top left purple menu bar

Upload Template

  1. In Calligraphr click "MY FONTS" in the top left purple menu bar

  2. Click "Upload Template" in gray men bar

  3. Click "Choose File" and locate template image in downloads folder.

  4. Click "UPLOAD TEMPLATE"

  5. Once it is finished processing, click "ADD CHARACTERS TO YOUR FONT"

Download Font

  1. Click "Build Font"

  2. Adjust the Font Name to be "First Name's Handwriting" (Ex: "Bob's Handwriting")

  3. Click "BUILD"

  4. Click on the file ending with ".ttf" to download.

Install Font

  1. Open your "Downloads" folder.

  2. Right-click on the .ttf file and click "Install"

Use Font in Illustrator

  1. Open Adobe Illustrator and create a new "Letter" file.

  2. Adjust your workspace (go to "Window" > "Workspace" > "Essentials Classic"

  3. Use the Type Tool to create a new text box.

  4. Type "Hello my name is (first name)" and then type each letter of the alphabet "ABCD..."

  5. Highlight your text and click "Character" at the top.

  6. Search for your font's name (it should be your first name at the start)

Save as .aic and Export as .jpg

  1. Go to "File" > "Save As..." then choose Cloud file

  2. Name "Last Name, First Name, Handwriting" then click "Save"

  3. Go to "File" > "Export" > "Export As..."

  4. Click "Creative Cloud Files" folder on the left menu

  5. Choose "JPEG" and check "Use Artboards" and click "Export"

  6. In the "JPEG Options" pop-up slide Quality to 10, for Resolution choose "High (300 ppi)" and click "OK"

Turn in to Canvas

  1. Turn in your .jpg file on Canvas in the "Handwriting Font" assignment.
