The local market, whether accommodated within an architectural set piece or informally organized within the existing urban context is not only surviving but thriving due to the easement and high technology nowadays.

The investigate area is located at Kepong, Kuala Lumpur with latitude 3.2003°N and longitude 101.6451°E which approximate 20mins drive to city center. Kepong is a town in northern Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The name is a Malay word meaning “Enclose” or “Surround”, as the town is surrounded by a mountain range. Kepong Baru, is the place to propose the community retail market.

The reason to select the site because there has the existing outdoor wet market to serve the nearby community. Due to the unpredictable weather issue, outdoor wet market bringing a lot of inconvenient problems to consumers and also vendors. To resolve the problem, a community retail market to be propose in selected area with good natural daylighting with shading devices to reduce the over provide daylighting in a space.

Besides, an investigate on design strategy able to archive a better daylight performance in market architecture with innovative energy efficient of market architecture in Malaysia climate. Lastly, based on the research findings, a new concept of daylighting design strategy to optimize the daylight performance and reduce energy consumption in the market architecture.
