NATURAL LIGHTING FOR HYDROPONIC PLANTATION
NATURAL LIGHTING FOR HYDROPONIC PLANTATION
Design Thesis | Selection: Sustainable Technologies
Daylighting is a reflection of direct light. Plants usually require direct lighting to growth. However, in this thesis study, the emphasis on the use of daylighting as a source for plant to grow especially in multi-level buildings as building envelope is seen to have a significant impact on especially local designers.
The selection of suitable plants as well as the proper space is the basis of this study. Apart from window openings or walls to allow light to enter and illuminate the plant is a key factor in determining the design of a building. Sun orientation affect the source of input inside the building. Planting as a building envelope to attract peoples from outside to inside with exposure to touch by hand.
Velux as a tool to guide on the room requirement to propose suitable planting area as an envelope to building and shading internally. Referring to MS1525:2014 the need of illuminance as a guide to control the opening. Neufert as a guide to design the opening for invite daylighting inside the building.
