The research is about studying to see how social media platforms influenced the view of the Filipino youth that communicates through the use of social media. In today’s era where technology has become essential for people to live comfortably, a large majority of society rely on technological devices to assist them through their daily lives. Communication has also changed when social media has integrated itself into a person’s routine.

Facebook is the most used platform in the country, the platform contains news, information on current events and trends and functions that share opinions and photos to others. A majority of the users are often engaging with one another, forming groups that share similar hobbies or interests and even promoting businesses and careers.

When the pandemic resulted in the government issuing rules and regulations to have people quarantine themselves in order to combat the spread of COVID-19 virus, everything has to be done online. Going through roughly a year of not being allowed to meet face-to-face with other people can be detrimental to the person’s basic need for communication, especially the youth.

Filipinos are very social and the youth are at the age where communication and engaging with others are necessary for growth and development, social media becomes an essential tool to fulfill that need for communication. It helps them cope with the monotonous routine of being quarantined and rules that limit their options for going outside. The view on social media has shifted because of how many use it during this time.
