Creating A Digital Directory Platform for Food Businesses and Community Pantries Implemented During the Covid-19 Pandemic Using UX/UI Design Principles Catered for Metro Manila Based Entrepreneurs

Food and beverage (F&B) businesses are established and shared through social media and community pantries are implemented to help feed others and provide other necessities everyday with one hero product: food. Food is both a want and need in everyone’s lives especially during the pandemic where restaurants and cafes have been temporarily closed or shut down due to the closure of physical establishments to comply with the COVID-19 restrictions. The Internet and social media have become the biggest platform to convey and spread information about new online businesses and community pantries. However, social media can be evil to new business owners and pantry starters because of the unpredictable algorithm and worry of clogged up hashtags in social media if not carefully labelled.

The researcher has designed a visual centric digital directory platform called Lasang Lokal. It is catered to food & beverage businesses and community pantries implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic. This will help solidify a cost-effective solution for promoting their business and/or pantry and promote legitimacy and trust provided with the visual centric elements that contain the product as well as the look of the pantry and the goods and necessities they offer.

It will have website and mobile application versions of a digital directory platform for online food & beverage businesses and community pantries established during the COVID-19 pandemic. With its soft bright colors and funky food illustrations along with a heavy emphasis on photography, it will surely gain both credibility and informational at the same time.

Ela King is a Quezon City based designer, illustrator, and incoming graduate of the University of the Philippines Diliman –– College of Fine Arts. They love playing mobile games involving wizards, idols and ragdolls as well as learning different languages.
