CAMPAIGN

WALANG PLASTIKAN

An Advocacy campaign promoting the reuse and recycling of plastic packaging waste from online shopping deliveries for middle-class Quezon City citizens ages 25-35

Plastic waste has been a problem in the Philippines for a long time. Though it is collected and delivered to landfills, it still manages to leak into our oceans, causing damage to the marine environment and in people’s livelihoods. Because of the pandemic, more and more people are buying online using e-commerce applications, food delivery services or social media marketplaces. This could create more plastic waste as the delivery packaging for these products are usually plastic. These plastics usually get collected and thrown away in landfills and have a possibility of leaking into the ocean. Quezon City is the most populous city in NCR, and because of this, the city produces a lot of waste. Most of them are coming from residential areas. Though the city has banned plastic bags and utensils, it isn’t enough to lower the plastic waste coming from other sources such as online shopping.

A visual campaign can help Quezon City citizens in changing their habits on plastic waste management in an online space. The campaign promotes habit change within citizens by showing them important information on ways to mitigate the disposal of plastic packaging such as the reuse of these plastics and the ways it can be recycled back into the system. The main goal of this campaign is to show how plastic packaging doesn't have to end up in landfills, but instead be reused and recycled.
