PIXXEL: A WEB APPLICATION FOR ARTISTS

ARTIST ON PIXELS: A Study on How Young Adult Filipino Artists Can Explore Self-Employment in the Digital Platform as a Potential Source of Income in Times of Economic Crisis such as the COVID-19 Pandemic

Colleen dela Cruz

The current crisis has opened a different perspective on alternative spaces that we could use to continue doing our work and this is where the idea of this project came from. Pixxel is a web application designed for artists aiming to build a Filipino art community in the digital space to expand their network and help in promoting their works. Artists could conduct and attend events using the platform which is its main highlight in addition to providing space for organizing projects and serving as a portfolio for their art. Pixxel is a place where artists can stream live in

their virtual booths, allowing guests to make purchases within the event, and at the same time, lets the customers view and follow the artist’s portfolio instantly through the user profile without having to link them to different websites making transactions smoother for both the potential clients and the artist. Artists would not only be able to share their creations but also work with other artists through events and projects and this creates a positive cycle of providing and acquiring resources among Filipino visual artists to strengthen their creative careers.
