A Proposed Social Media Campaign Aimed at Sustaining Sustainable Fashion Brands and Promoting a Sustainable Mindset among Women Aged 20-30 Years Old

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted numerous industries, and one that has taken a huge hit is the local fashion and garments industry. With over 20,000 garment workers having lost their jobs since 2020 and sustainable fashion brands seeing less orders as the demand for clothing lowers during a time of social distancing, sustainable fashion brands and workers are struggling.

The Patch Project is a social media campaign and sustainability initiative that gives an avenue for local clothing brands and promotes a sustainable mindset among clothing consumers and enthusiasts alike through posts that show sustainable fashion in a new and fresh light. The campaign will be done on Instagram and will apply magazine-like features that make use of the visual-verbal interface on a digital platform. Being a magazine-inspired campaign, The Patch Project aims to highlight and support local sustainable brands through features, persuade the audience towards a sustainable mindset and lifestyle through informative posts, and show sustainable fashion as something fun and fresh through fashion magazine-like features that highlight pieces from local sustainable brands.

The “patches” in the name pertains to patching together local communities through sustainability, including consumers, brands, and garment workers. Each element, the brands, consumers, and garment workers, each represent patches that are to be sewn together through sustainability. The name is also a nod to “retaso” pieces that are usually worked with in upcycling clothing, making sustainability a huge part of the brand and project.

Isa Garcia is a freelance makeup artist, stylist, and aspiring fashion and beauty director who feels the most alive at studios and at photoshoots. With a penchant for asian pop culture, music, vintage fashion, and the latest trends, she creates makeup and fashion looks with her own twist on them. She hopes to take this to the global scene.
