EPIKKO: MGA KWENTONG SINAUNA

Preserving Ancient Tales of the Philippines through Gamified Learning Materials

Patricia Librojo

Due to the perishable nature of materials used in the past to record stories and events, along with the efforts of colonizers to destroy such records, proper resources containing full transcripts and explanations of ancient Philippine tales are particularly difficult to come by for the average Filipino household; thus, the general public does not often have substantial knowledge about these narratives other than what little information they were given in school.

Epikko: Mga Kwentong Sinauna is a project that aims to aid in the preservation of ancient Philippine tales through the use of gamified learning materials geared towards Filipinos aged 18-30 years old. Epikko is a game-based learning material in the form of a mobile social media and 2d rogue-lite game application created to encourage

self-directed learning among the target audience by providing a platform for individuals to learn and participate in ancient storytelling traditions in a modern, understandable, and easily accessible manner.
