Bea Cortez

Ang Makulay na Kahon ni Biboy at Chichi is an interactive pop-up book that aims to motivate children to engage in a self-care routine despite home confinement due to pandemic restrictions. The title represents the general theme of the project which is highlighting hope, excitement and colorful adventures despite the feeling of being boxed in the current situation due to government imposed measures such as stay at home policies.

The project gives a careful consideration in relating the story to Filipino children’s current situation and feelings during this pandemic. Those emotions include feelings of isolation, demotivation and boredom. From these, the story will move on to the introduction of self-care habits or daily living tasks whose main concerns are children's general wellness including; hygiene care, nutrition, and emotional and psychological nourishment. These habits will be presented as a series of adventures visualized and reimagined in exciting activities such as swimming, hiking, camping etc. in a colorful setting but giving hints that this series of adventures are actually happening within home premises.
