Nature is integral to both our survival and our mental wellbeing. Exposure to nature has a positive effect on the stress relief of people. However in urban areas in the Philippines, green spaces are getting far and few. The pandemic has lessened the accessibility to green spaces and ends up worsening the mental wellbeing of many Filipinos. Because social media has slowly evolved into a public sphere visited by many, the researcher gathered data to explore how participating in nature-related social media content affected the wellbeing of young adults in Metro Manila. The research showed that stress relief could be a result of participating in nature-related content but that depended on the accessibility of individuals to nature and green spaces. In order to deliver nature and its benefits online, a social media campaign that utilizes user-generated visual media on nature is explored to further discussions of urban nature.

The creative solution to this problem is #HalikaLikasan, a multi-platform social media campaign that encourages people to share their experiences with urban nature in the Philippines. The campaign aims to encourage people to share their experiences with nature through a week-long creative art challenge. Thus building awareness and delivering benefits to their mental wellbeing. These experiences will be shared through visual means such as photography and illustration. It is open to participation for everyone regardless of creative skill. The campaign also shares facts and statistics about urban nature in the Philippines.
