Promoting OPM in the COVID-19 Pandemic Through A Mobile Application to Filipino Fans Aged 15-24

The music scene is one of the most affected industries because of the ongoing health crisis which challenges OPM artists to promote and advertise themselves, since OPM is grounded on face-to-face promotion, the researcher wanted to develop opportunities for artists to promote themselves during this time to Filipino fans aged 15 to 24. It was found that artists were affected by how they connect with their fans, and now they are hungry for interaction and are willing to get all the help they can get to continue engaging with their supporters.

FANTAYO! is an application for OPM, where fans and artists can interact and reconnect with each other, despite the pandemic. Artists can share updates, post their schedules and concerts, interact with fans by having live shows, calls, and chats, while fans can also interact with co-fans, get to know more about the artists, and easily access different content produced by the artists themselves. You can access all these with the app for free, but with the option for a premium subscription for bonus content from the artists. This app also provides a platform for less-mainstream artists to promote and expose themselves equally in a space alongside prominent artists. Aside from exposure and widening their network, the app intends to assist the artists in receiving revenue during these times, since COVID-19 has challenged artist’s way of producing income.

Bojo is a 21-year-old Manila-based designer who has been creating ever since he was a child and has lived up to his dream to become a visual communicator.
