The Civil Engineering Society organized a seminar on “the Youth Perspectives in Sustainable Water Resource Management.” The event served as a dynamic platform for students and faculty to engage in meaningful discussions about the importance of conserving and efficiently utilizing water resources. The seminar aimed to highlight the vital role of the younger generation in addressing water-related challenges through innovation, awareness and sustainable practices. Throughout the session, students presented their research and opinions on key topics such as stormwater harvesting, rainwater collection for agricultural purposes and domestic rainwater harvesting systems. Several participants also shared first-hand experiences from their local communities emphasizing issues such as water scarcity, seasonal shortages and inefficient water infrastructure. These presentations reflected not only the students’ technical understanding but also their growing sense of responsibility toward environmental sustainability.
In addition to student contributions, lecturers and faculty members provided valuable insights and professional perspectives on modern water management techniques, policy frameworks and the importance of community-based water conservation initiatives. Their guidance helped bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application inspiring students to approach sustainable engineering solutions with creativity and critical thinking. The seminar concluded with an open discussion session allowing participants to exchange ideas, address questions and explore collaborative strategies for effective water resource management. Overall, the event proved to be an inspiring and educational experience, one that encouraged active student participation, fostered environmental awareness and strengthened the commitment of future engineers to sustainable water practices.
