A Medical Update talk, titled Radiology New Model of Imaging - PET Scan, was held on 09 August 2023 in ELT 2 at UoM from 8 to 9 p.m.

PET CT Scan is a new imaging technique that combines anatomical information provided by CT scan with functional imaging through positron emission tomography (PET).
Dr Jelena KOSTIC talked about indications of PET CT Scan, the patient journey at Aegle Cancer Hospital which is equipped with a cyclotron that produces short-lived radioactive tracers for PET Scan.
Dr Jayant BHARGAV talked about the roles of PET scans in Oncology: used for better diagnosis and for follow-up of cancer patients after treatment (but not for health screening).
The talk was coordinated by Dr Meera Devi Manraj, Senior Lecturer and Head of Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.
