On the occasion of the 60th Anniversary of the University of Mauritius, the Confucius Institute at the University of Mauritius held the "Making Travel to China Easy" seminar in its new Smart Classroom. It is also an event which is part of the "Experience China" series. The knowledge sharing session attracted many staff planning to visit China. The Chinese Director, Mrs Yang Fang, and local Director Dr N Kistamah attended and hosted the event, creating a lively and interactive atmosphere.
Dr Kistamah stated that even seasoned travelers feel anxious and uncertain in unfamiliar environments abroad, but wish this worry could be eased with the conduct of this interactive session, turning "complexity" into "simplicity" for the colleagues so that they may confidently travel to China.
Miss Caroline, a local teacher at the Confucius Institute, delivered the lecture based on a travel guide. She systematically explained practical skills, including SIM card purchase, WeChat app usage, online and offline payment methods, navigation and taxi apps, translation tools, dining tips, and food delivery platforms, covering all aspects of daily life for foreigners traveling in China. Miss Caroline was assisted by Miss Estela, Chinese teacher at CI-UoM.
The audience found it informative and practical, easing worries about payments, transport, and language. At the end of the event, all participants were filled with confidence and shouted in unison: "China, here we come!"
