When a gang moves to a new location from which logs are to be uplifted a new Gang Location needs to be established in WSX.
Based on all the required elements already existing within the Database, with the exception of Setting, e.g. Gang, Forest, and Compartment, to add a new gang location from within the Stock Calls screen,
Select the required Gang
Click on the New Skid button (top right)
From within the 'Select Forest/Compartment/Setting' screen that appears, highlight the required Forest, Compartment and Setting and click Select
Note: If the required Setting is not available this may be added from within this screen by clicking in the Setting area of the screen and clicking the Insert button - See the Database Admin User Guide for details on adding a Setting. If the required Forest or Compartment are not available these must first be established from within the WSX DB Admin application.
If any of these elements require setting up in the database please refer to the Database Admin User Guide.
4. Once you have made the above selection you will be presented with the Gang Location screen with the Gang and selected Forest, Compartment and Setting populated.
To complete the set-up of the gang location the following data is required or may be added (required fields shown by asterisk),
Order Date & Order Time* - Set the date & time to correctly order the location in the Stock Calls and Gang Locations list display. Locations display in order of most recent order date & time to oldest. This will be automatically populated with the current date but can be edited.
From Date* - Set the date from which the crew location started or is to start. This is populated automatically on addition of a new crew location with the current date but can be edited.
End Date - Set the date at which the location is completed to close the location. Clearing this date will reopen the location. When closing a location if stock line items exist you will be presented with the option to ‘Zero all stock and delete stock items before closing’ - you must select yes on this option to close the location.
Unavailable Until? - Allows for the option to set a location as ‘Unavailable’ until a date at which the location will become available for uplift. Journeys can be created from unavailable locations, however, the dispatcher will be notified at the time both when selecting the gang location and on the addition of uplifts to the journey, with options to continue or cancel.
GPS Coordinates & Radius - Allows for the ability to create a geofence for the gang location. These coordinates and radius are critical if voiceless dispatch is being utilised, i.e. PDT's in trucks.
Latitude & Longitude - Add coordinates by clicking on the Update GPS Co-Ordinates button and entering the coordinates in one of the three formats specified. All formats will be populated from the one manually entered as conversions exist within the application.
Note: If coordinates automatically appear in the Gang Location screen these will have been auto-populated from either the Compartment or Setting (where these options are activated in the database). These coordinates can be retained or edited as required.
Radius & Proximity Radius - These are initially auto-populated from the database defaults but can be manually edited. Set a radius in metres that fully encompasses the gang location plus allows a buffer for any possible GPS drift.
Data Source - Automatically populated as the user adding (or editing) the data and the origin of the edit, e.g. "WSX - Paul Smith", or "PDT - 4775".
GPS Co-Ordinate Verified & Date Verified - Where the GPS data is know to be accurate this field can be tagged. Tagging this field will automatically add or update the date shown in the 'Date Verified' field, editable if required. Locations should only be verified where there is 100% confidence the coordinates are an genuine match for the physical load out location, often only possible after the first trucks have loaded by reviewing the trucks tracking data.
Polygon Exists - Not currently integrated.
Docket Number - Allows setting of the next docket number to be allocated from this location. This should only be set for non-ED Log Orgs and in general this does not need to be set as the dockets captured against the location will update this field automatically.
Name - Allows for the assigning of a name against a crew location, i.e. a name by which it may be locally recognized.
Max Stock Level - Set the maximum number of loads allowable in stock at this location. This value is displayed in the Stock Calls screen and users are notified when stock quantity at the location exceeds this value. Where no value is added against the location the database default max stock level will be displayed against the location in the Stock Calls screen.
Log Org* - Set the required Log Org for the location. This will be set by default as the primary Log Org assigned to the gang in the database but can be edited and any of the Log Orgs assigned to the gang log org list in the database that have an associated Docket Issuer matching that assigned to the Supplier assigned to the forest, may be assigned to the location.
Note: It is critical the correct Log Org is assigned to the location as this impacts on all uplift, stock and estimate data. If you are unsure please consult with your dispatch manager or Trimble Support.
Operation Type - Set the Operation Type for the location, e.g. Clearfell, Roadline, Thinning, etc. This field will initially be automatically set as the default operation type established in the database, but can be edited.
Cartage Contractor - Allows for the assigning of a specific Trucking Contractor to the Location. This is utilised only in some of the docket export processes.
Supervisor - Allows for assigning a supervisor to the location (this may be a required field depending on the database set-up). This may be assigned by default as the supervisor assigned to the crew in the database, however, any of the supervisors associated to the Log Org associated to the gang location can be assigned.
Comment - Allows for a comment to be assigned to the location (known as the Crew Location Comment). This displays in the Stock Calls screen and various other screens within the application.
Loaders - Allows for the assignment of one or more loaders to the gang location. By default, one or more loaders can be assigned to a crew location, with the option to restrict this to just a single loader with the DB Setting: MultiLoadersForGangs. Where the default loader for the gang is the only loader being utilised, adding a loader to the gang location is not required. To assign loaders to the location, click on the Add button and select one at a time from the Select Loader screen.
Note: By default, the Select Loader screen will only display active Loaders with an associated Loader Owner code matching that of the gangs associated Logging Contractor code. Selecting the 'Show All Loaders?' option will expand the list to include all loaders with a Log Org association matching the Log Org associated to the gang location.
Alternate Location - Allows for the assignment of an alternate location against the gang location if required. This is used in certain docket export files to replace the actual crew location (see Dockets section). To assign an alternate location click the drop-down arrow beside the field and select the required location from the 'Select Forest/Compartment/Setting' screen.
Working Circle - Allows for the ability to assign a Working Circle to the location. This is only required where working circles are being used by the Log Org assigned to the gang location and where the gang location Working Circle differs from that assigned to the associated Forest. To assign a working circle click on the drop-down arrow beside the field and select the required working circle from the 'Select Working Circle' screen that presents.
Gang Location Settings
On-Truck - Allows for the ability to set the location as an On-Truck Location. Where a gang location is set as On-Truck all journeys are automatically assigned the On-Truck tag (see Journey section [link]).
CTI - Allows for the ability to set the location as CTI Only. Where a crew location is set as CTI Only, if a journey is created against it with a truck that is not tagged as CTI equipped a warning will present to the dispatcher. This does not prevent the journey being created, it simply acts as a notification to the dispatcher who can make the final decision on whether to send the truck to that location.
Railhead - Allows for the ability to set the location as a Railhead. Where locations are set as a Railhead this triggers specific functionality when creating a journey (currently only utilized within the Coillte operation only - see Coillte section).
Transfer Bay - Allows for the ability to set the location as a Transfer Bay. Where locations are set as a Transfer Bay this triggers specific functionality when creating a journey (currently only utilized within the Coillte operation only - see Coillte section)
Staging Point - Allows for the ability to set the location as a Staging Point. Staging Point locations are utilised in the creation of Staged Journeys, which are journey which consists of two separate journeys using two different trucks (see Journeys section for details on Staging Journey functionality).
Don’t Check Stock Levels - Allows for the ability to set the location to not present excessive stock warnings where the current number of loads exceeds the set Max Stock Level (set either by location or the database default). These are generally set for the likes of larger log yards.
Enable Manual Status (At Gang) - Allows for the ability to override the default setting for the Log Org in relation to Auto-Status, i.e. if the Log Org is set as 'Auto-status Only', ticking this option will allow the truck driver to manually set the job as 'At Gang' for this location.
Enable Manual Statuses (TTDs) - Allows for the ability to override the default setting for the Log Org in relation to Auto-Status, enabling manual status for the TTD job type in the Coillte workflows irrespective of Auto-Status setting.
Enable Multi Polygon - Allows multi polygon detection for At Gang and Loaded Auto-status in the Coillte workflow
Auto Notification - Where text is added to this field, each associated journey sent to the PDT will present this notification to the driver at the time the job is received on the PDT.
Exclusions - Allows for the ability to assign entity exclusions for the gang location. Where exclusions exist for gang location assigned to a journey, a warning is presented to the dispatcher (see Journey section for detail).
To add exclusions, use the 'Add' button and select all the required entities from the screen that presents. To remove individual exclusions, highlight the entity in the list and click the 'Del' button, or use the 'Clear' button to remove all exclusions for the selected entity type.
The entities available to be added as exclusions for a gang location are as follows;
Truck Contractors - Those associated to the Log Org associated to the gang location
Trucks - Those associated to the Log Org associated to the gang location
Truck Types - All truck types
Trailer Types - All trailer types
Exclusion Reason - Allows for the ability to hold a reason (text) as to why exclusions may exist against the gang location. Where text exists in this field, when the exclusion warning is triggered and presents to the dispatcher (as outlined above), this text will be included.
Contact - Allows for the ability to assign a key contact to the crew location. To assign a contact click the drop-down arrow beside the field and select from the established Contacts list.
Email PDT Stock Updates? - Where the assigned contact has an email address, this field can be tagged which will see them receive stock updates via email when these are received by WSX from a PDT for the related crew.
Document Link - Allows the ability to associate a file link for documentation related with the location. To assign a document, click on the folder icon to the right of the field and within the Windows Explorer screen that presents navigate to and select the required document.
Note: The DB Setting UseCompartmentDocumentationPath allows control of where location documentation is maintained, either set at the Compartment or Gang Location level.
Once all data has been established against the Gang Location click on the OK button to save.
At this time you may be presented with the option to 'Add Log Grades to the new location where a remaining Uplift Plan exists?' with Yes/No options. Answering,
Yes - Will prompt you to select an existing Gang Location from which WoodTypes where a remaining Weekly Uplift Request exists, i.e. if the number of loads uplifted has not yet reached the number of loads assigned as the weekly uplift request, will be added to the new location with the associated remaining Weekly Uplift Request value.
No - New location will be created with no WoodTypes assigned. These will need to be manually added.
