Within the MTData Hawkeye application a geofence is known as a Waypoint. There are two main methods for establishing a waypoint, as outlined below.
Note: Waypoints established in Hawk Eye are only utilised within the Hawk Eye application, i.e. establishing a waypoint for a gang location in Hawk Eye will not establish the geofence for triggering job status updates within WSX / WSX Mobile. Geofences for triggering WSX Job Statuses on the PDT need to be added separately within WSX against the Gang Location or the Customer.
To add a waypoint from within the Global Settings,
Hover the mouse over the Cog Icon in the top right of the screen and select the Global Settings option (if you do not have this you will need to consult with your dispatch manager or Trimble Support)
Click on the Waypoint option in the menu that presents (lower left-hand side of the screen)
Identify and click on the Fleet to which the waypoint will be assigned.
Identify and click on the Waypoint Group that you wish to add the waypoint to and click the Add Waypoint button.
Note: All waypoints within MTData are assigned to a Fleet and Waypoint Group. If multiple fleets require the same waypoint a 'Waypoint Copy Tool' exists, administered by Trimble Support. Please contact Trimble Support if you require copying waypoints to other fleets and groups.
5. In the Add Waypoint screen that presents
a. Assign a Name to the waypoint
b. Determine if the waypoint is to be a rectangle, polygon or circle.
Note: All waypoints used for status updates in WSX utilise a point and radius, i.e. a circle. This does not mean you cannot use polygons in MTData, however, you will need to determine the centre point and radius that is required to encompass the area in a circle geofence if this is to be added to WSX for auto-status updates.
c. Add the GPS Coordinates into the Lat / Long field, either by
Manual Entry into the Lat / Long field
Entering the address into the Address field (Lat & long are automatically added where a valid address is defined)
Use the Select position from map option to locate on the map the centre of the waypoint
Note: Once the waypoint is displaying on the map you can move it my clicking on the centre dot and dragging. You can also resize a circle by clicking and dragging on the dot at the top, or reshape a polygon by clicking on the edge of the polygon and dragging. The Tolerance field displays the radius for circle waypoints.
d. Once you have the location and size of the waypoint accurate you can click Save to save
Note: Additional properties can be assigned to the Waypoint as contained within the Time Based and Options tabs. Please consult with the MTData Hawk Eye User Guide for details on these options.
Example of an established polygon waypoint
Where the exact loadout location for a crew or operation is not known prior to the start of uplift, you can establish the geofence after the first trucks have been on site by utilising their tracking history. To add a waypoint from tracking history,
Identify a truck that has been to the gang location (from WSX) and display its tracking history for the period in which it went to the location. To do this,
a. Select the truck (based on those recorded in WSX as having uplifted from this gang location) from the Assets list in the right hand side of the main screen
b. Click on the pin on the map showing he trucks location and on the pop-up box that displays, click on the Cog Icon and select View History
c. From within the View History screen that presents, modify the date and time over which you wish to view history and click Display History.
c. Assign a Name to the waypoint.
d. Select the Waypoint Group against which the waypoint is to be assigned.
d. Determine if the waypoint is to be a rectangle, polygon or circle.
Note: All waypoints used for status updates in WSX utilise a point and radius, i.e. a circle. This does not mean you cannot use polygons in MTData, however, you will need to determine the centre point and radius that is required to encompass the area in a circle geofence if this is to be added to WSX for auto-status updates.
e. The GPS Coordinates in the Lat / Long field will be automatically populated based on the location of the truck.
Note: Once the waypoint is displaying on the map you can move it my clicking on the centre dot and dragging. You can also resize a circle by clicking and dragging on the dot at the top, or reshape a polygon by clicking on the edge of the polygon and dragging..
d. Once you have the location and size of the waypoint accurate you can click Save to save.
Note: Additional properties can be assigned to the Waypoint as contained within the Time Based and Options tabs. Please consult with the MTData Hawk Eye User Guide for details on these options.
