School Spring Concert, 7pm Thursday 5^th May, All Saints’ Church Kingston

You are invited to the School Spring Concert at 7pm on Thursday 5^th May 2022 at All Saints’ Church Kingston KT1 1JP. Admission is free of charge, seating is unreserved and no ticket is required to enter. The concert will end at approximately 8:45pm. This concert will involve all pupils in Year 7 who, with the School Orchestra, will perform songs from the school musical production 2022 ‘Guys and Dolls’. It is anticipated that the following school ensembles will also perform: Chamber Orchestra, Concert Band, Jazz Combo, School Orchestra, String Orchestra, Wind Band and Wind Chamber Ensemble. Parents of all Y7 pupils and Y8-13 orchestra/band members are asked to complete the permission form sent to them by parentmail.

On the day of the concert, between 1:45 and 4:30pm at All Saints Church (750 metres from Tiffin School), there will be a brief final rehearsal for each group of performers. Following their rehearsal, Year 7 pupils who are not orchestra/band members will be allowed to travel home at 2:30pm from All Saints’ Church and return for the evening concert at 6:55pm. Pupils unable to attend their final rehearsal for unavoidable reasons should, nonetheless, attend the concert. When not rehearsing, orchestra/band members may remain in the performance space (where they may eat cold food and complete homework) or, with parents’ permission, they may leave the site. Copied below is the timetable which performers will follow on the day of the concert.

Event timetable for pupils

Thursday 5^th May

11:00am Musical equipment (see below) loaded and delivered to All Saints’ Church KT1 1JP (FS MO Prefects).

11:30am Staff and prefects set stage and audience seating (MO Prefects).

1:20pm All Y7 pupils, School Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra members line up by class in the playground facing London Road, bringing with them their bags and musical instruments. Pupils are registered then walk 750 metres to venue supervised by members of staff (SJC MCM FS SH TL class teachers).

1:45-2:30pm Y7 pupils and School Orchestra final rehearsal at venue.

2:30pm Y7 pupils travel home directly from venue. Alternatively, Y7 pupils return to Tiffin School supervised by members of staff (SJC MCM FS SH TL) then travel home as normal.

2:30-4:30pm Final orchestra/band rehearsals.

- Pupils place belongings under chairs. Large instruments and cases are placed in choir vestry.

- When not rehearsing, pupils may remain in the church café area where they may complete homework and where they may eat. With parents’ permission, pupils may leave the site.

2:30pm School Orchestra final rehearsal at venue.

3pm Chamber Orchestra final rehearsal at venue.

3pm Y8-13 orchestra/band members requiring supervision gather in playground and walk to venue supervised by staff (MCM FS SH TL). Pupils not requiring supervision walk to venue independently.

3:15pm String Orchestra final rehearsal at venue.

3:30pm Concert Band and Wind Band final rehearsal at venue.

4:00pm Wind Chamber Ensemble final rehearsal at venue.

4:15pm Jazz Combo final rehearsal at venue.

4:30pm At or before this time all pupils travel home.

6:55pm Pupils return to the venue and take their seats:

Y7 pupils in south aisle, orchestra/band members in north aisle.

7pm Concert begins

- When not performing, pupils remain seated in aisle seats.

- One item before performing, ensemble members assemble in choir vestry.

8:45pm approx. Concert ends. All performers help to reinstate church furniture.

9:30pm Musical equipment collected and returned to school.

- Music stands: 2 trolleys, 40 stands

- 2 largest timpani

- 3 double basses, 2 half size, 1 quarter size

- Small portable drum kit (from Annexe)

- Small ‘Chord’ portable bass amp (from Main Hall)

- Additional snare drum, suspended cymbal, glockenspiel (from Drum Room)

- Bass guitar (from MO office)

- Extension cables

- Boxes of sheet music: Orchestra/Chamber Orchestra, Concert Band/Wind Band, String Orchestra, Wind Chamber Ensemble, Jazz Combo.
