The 2023 Tiffin Piano Competition final will take place at 7pm Tue 7th Nov 2023 in the Walden Hall. All parents, pupils and friends are invited to attend. Admission is free of charge, seating is unreserved and no ticket is required to enter. The performances will end at approximately 8:30pm.

The preliminary round of the competition will take place at 3:30pm Wed 18th Oct. The order in which pupils enter the competition is the order in which they will be called to perform. For this reason, pupils wishing to travel home earlier must submit their entry earlier. We are sorry that, for practical reasons, the preliminary round is not open to audience members. Immediately following their performance in the preliminary round, pupils may leave and travel home as normal. We anticipate that the last pupil to perform will do so by 5:30pm.

Full details, including online entry form, can be found on the Tiffin Piano Competition 2023 homepage:

*Performers will be divided into two categories:

1. Junior Category: open to all pianists grade 5 and below, pupils must perform a solo piano piece not exceeding four minutes in duration. Pupils will be encouraged to perform from memory but will not be penalized for performing with sheet music.

2. Senior Category: open to all pianists grade 6 and above, pupils must perform a solo piano piece not exceeding seven minutes in duration. Pupils will be encouraged to perform from memory but will not be penalized for performing with sheet music.

*The six pupils from each category who give the best performances will go through to the final.

*To enter the competition, pupils should complete the online entry form (see below). Pupils must be logged in to their Tiffin google account to enter.

*The entry form can also be found by searching Tiffin School Music Department and following the ‘piano competition’ link on the department homepage.

*The entry form will ask each pupil for their name, year group, category (junior or senior), and the composer and title of their chosen piece.

*If, later, a pupil wishes to change their choice of music, they should submit another entry form.

*Entries will be displayed in chronological order on the piano competition webpage, showing the order in which preliminary round performances will take place.

*There is no limit to the number of entrants: the adjudicators will hear as many performers as possible.

*The closing date for entries will be Monday 16th October.

*Entrants who wish to change their choice of music should simply submit another entry form with the correct details.

*The order in which pupils enter the competition is the order in which they will be called to perform.

*For this reason, pupils wishing to travel home earlier must submit their entry earlier.

*The competitor who is next due to perform may warm up on the piano in Room 88.

*Other competitors may warm up in other music rooms, but must return to Room 88 before it is their turn to perform.

*Competitors bring with them a quiet activity to complete in Room 88 (e.g. homework) whilst they wait.
