Wire Sculpture

The main idea that guided this work was creating a life sized 3D sculpture of an object. I had to be sure to only use fish hook connections and to try to best replicate the item that I chose. I also was guided by using a lot of hand-eye coordination which was something I had to work at.

The materials used to create this artwork were needle-nosed pliers and wire clippers along with 18 gauge annealed wire.

The process for making this started with choosing an object. I chose the school coffee cup because I get a coffee everyday before art class so I would never forget it. After I picked my item I got a big white sheet of paper and traced the bottom and top of the cup. I then had a small and large circle for the bottom and top. I then traced three more circles in between that got gradually bigger to be the middle of the cup. After that I made those circles out of wire and used fish hook connections to connect them all.
