Artist Statement

The main idea that guided my artwork was working with linear perspective. We practiced both 1 point and 2 point perspective but for the hallway drawing, we only used 1 point perspective. I had to only draw vertical, horizontal, or diagonal lines that connected to my distance point. The distance point is the location where every line ultimately had to connect to show perspective.

This work was made with graphite on drawing paper for the sketches and printmaking paper for the hallway drawing.

The process started with practicing my linear perspective by drawing 1o different squares in both 2 points and 1 point perspective. After photographing the hallway I chose to use I experimented with enlarging my drawing onto the printmaking paper and revised that a couple of times until it looked right. Then I just experimented with how to make each object in the correct perspective and when I didn't know I researched on youtube how to do it.
